LABAQUA participates in Warsaw in a technical conference on odour control in urban cycle facilities

28 December 2016

Over 60% of the complaints about air quality made in Poland are related to unpleasant odours. Therefore, the Air Protection Department of the country’s Environment Ministry is already working to define a regulatory framework which helps to manage environmental pollution and to control odours.

The technical conference “Prevention of odour generation in urban cycle facilities”, organized by the specialized publisher Seidel-Przywecki, was held recently in Warsaw. The encounter allowed an in-depth analysis of many aspects of odour diagnosis and control, and was attended by 80 participants, including urban wastewater treatment managers and fundamental stakeholders in the process.

The main sponsor of the conference was SUEZ (the business group to which LABAQUA belongs), which participated with two programme presentations. Pedro Navalón, from LABAQUA’s Business Development Department, presented a series of dynamic olfactometry case studies for diagnosis in wastewater and waste treatment facilities, which present high odour elimination requirements. Furthermore, Silvia Nadal, Product Manager from LABAQUA’s Air Quality Department, presented another service from the company’s Air Quality line: Advanced Biofiltration.

To complete the conference, the attendees were able to visit Cazjka WWTP, the biggest in Poland, which treats part of Warsaw’s wastewater. With sufficient installed capacity to treat the flow from a population equivalent of up to 2.1 million, it has an air line design based on a two-stage (acid-base) scrubber treatment of the emissions conducted from the water pre-treatment and sludge treatment stages.

The presence at this conference and the publications in local specialized journals complete and strengthen the Air Quality product internationalization strategy of SUEZ ADVANCED SOLUTIONS in Poland.
