SUEZ Water Spain endorses its commitment to the protection of Biodiversity in the annual meeting of the Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative (IEEB)
30 June 2016
Suez Water Spain consolidates its commitment to the conservation of Biodiversity through its participation in the annual meeting of the Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative (IEEB), an encounter coordinated by the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment.
In the meeting, the participating companies agreed on the commitment to work on an integrated report to give greater visibility to the progress made in biodiversity. They likewise shared the lines developed and established a roadmap for 2016 and the following years.
The IEEB is geared toward companies committed to sustainable development, whose objective is to position themselves as leaders in responsible and innovative business management. The organization seeks to integrate natural capital into business policy and management, to enhance the contribution of big companies to the conservation of the natural heritage and to identify innovative projects.
Suez Water Spain, as one of the 23 companies which have already signed the Biodiversity Pact, recognizes and supports the three objectives of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity: promote the conservation of biodiversity, the sustainable use of its components, and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of the adequate utilization of genetic resources. The Biodiversity Pact includes the commitment to set realistic and measurable goals, and to review them every three years, in addition to evaluating the impact of the business activity on biodiversity and natural capital and including biodiversity in management manuals.
