Aquambiente promotes an improvement in the River Ebro navigable channel through the acquisition of a new cleaning vessel
20 June 2016
Aquambiente, which forms part of the temporary joint venture (UTE) Navegabilitat Ebre, is participating in the improvement of navigation on the River Ebro by means of the acquisition of a new cleaning and maintenance vessel.
The vessel, which comes into operation this season, guarantees the control of the cutting and collection of macrophytes, thus favouring river navigation both by motor vessels and by those intended for the pursuit of sports (canoes, kayaks, etc.), in addition to any other activity on the river. For example, the boat makes it possible to solve the problems of accumulations of algae in the final stretch of the river, especially at its mouth.
The vessel acquired by the UTE which, in addition to Aquambiente, is formed by the companies Sorigué and Servidel, following the tender procedure organized by the Institute for the Development of the Ebro Region (IDECE) for the maintenance of the lower stretch of the Ebro navigable channel, is German built and is 10 metres long by 3 metres wide. It weighs 11,500 kilos and has a capacity of 13 cubic metres (6.5 tonnes) and cutting dimensions of 2.5 metres long and 1.80 metres high.
