SUEZ Water Spain organizes the first IoT Lab Smart Agriculture
09 February 2016
SUEZ Water Spain organized the first IoT Lab Smart Agriculture, a three-day event which brought together representatives from start-ups related to the sphere of agriculture. The aim of the meeting was to develop tools or services which, using the latest innovative technologies available on the market, help farmers to maximize the profitability of their operations, promote sustainability and respect for the environment, increase their quality of life and obtain an entrepreneurial vision of their business.
During the event, which took place in the Ciutat de l’Aigua’s CREA, three teams were established with the nine organizations participating. First, they prepared the business idea and designed the technological solution with the support of the mentors from SUEZ Water Spain. They then proceeded to make a prototype of the solution and, finally, they presented the solution to a jury formed by the Irrigation Market Director of SUEZ Water Spain, Javier Borso; the Innovation expert, Daniel Cardelús, and the co-founder of Claro Partners, Aldo de Jong.
The winning solution was entitled “The NightWatch”, based on image recognition of plagues and their geo-positioning in order to avoid their proliferation. The team which presented this idea was formed by Manuel Villar (JardiBots), Daniel García (Agropixel) and Francisco Jiménez (iBot Control Systems), who obtained accreditations to access 4YFN (4 Years From Now), the international encounter between start-ups and investors within the framework of Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress 2016. For its part, SUEZ Water Spain undertook to study the possibility of designing the solutions presented with the participating companies.
