AQUALOGY INSTALLS A TREATMENT PLANT TO IMPROVE SERVICE IN CASTALLA (ALICANTE)
09 July 2012
Aqualogy has installed a treatment plant to guarantee the supply of water to about 3,100 customers in Castalla. Thus, the service will be improved in this municipality, which had water shortage and quality problems.
Aquagest Levante, as the concessionaire of the service in Castalla, urged the city council to install a treatment plant for the removal of iron from the well from which the water was supplied. This well had become operational at the end of last year to replace another well which had seen its levels fall to a level that made extraction impractical.
The solution adopted by Aqualogy Aqua Ambiente Soluciones Intergrales, S.A. to remove iron from the well (whose flow is 62 litres/second, approximately) involved the installation of a pressure filtration plant on a mixed bed of pyrolusite-flint that catalyses the precipitation of the iron to then remove it by filtration, the installation costs of which amounted to 200,000 euros.
