AQUALOGY AND THE CDTI INVEST €750,000 IN THE COMPANY HYDROMODEL HOST
27 May 2015
Aqualogy and the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI), a body dependent on the Ministry of the Economy and Competitiveness, have signed an agreement with the company Hydromodel Host by means of which both organizations will invest, jointly, €750,000 in the capital of this technological company.
The start-up Hydromodel Host, founded in 2010, has developed innovative software which allows numerical models to be hosted in the cloud to be able to forecast the condition of aquifers at a specific moment and to manage them efficiently. This technology has been very successfully applied both in Spain and in other countries.
Groundwater is an important resource for humanity, and aquifers are the supply source for millions of human beings and large areas of irrigation land. One of the main tools used in the management of these resources is hydrogeological models which, starting from a mathematical simulation of the groundwater flow, allow the water balance to be adjusted and the responses of the aquifer to be simulated in the face of different feed, exploitation and pollution situations.
One novelty is that this new programme can be exploited by the users, who do not have to be experts in the task of developing models and, moreover, it offers very precise information on each of the environmental agents present in each aquifer.
It is likewise an essential set of data of great help to attain the goals pre-established in the Water Framework Directive (WFP) and the Groundwater Directive (GD), concerning the protection of groundwater masses against their pollution and deterioration.
This joint investment has been made through Venture Opportunities (Vento), made up of the business group Agbar, Aqualogy, SL and the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology, through the INNVIERTE programme. This public-private investment instrument invests capitals in the launch or expansion phases of companies with innovative products in areas related to the water cycle, environment, energy and smart cities. In this case, the investment will allow Hydromodel Host to reinforce its technological capacity, facilitate its business growth and accelerate its business plan in the market.
