AQUALOGY DESIGNS A SEWERAGE MASTER PLAN FOR SANTA MARÍA (BRAZIL)
06 July 2012
Aqualogy has been chosen by the city of Santa María (Brazil) to design its environmental sewerage master plan, together with Quiron. At the presentation of the agreement, the mayor of Santa María, Cezar Schirmer, framed the sewerage plan within ‘a design definition process for our city’. Together with this plan, the city has also commissioned an urban mobility plan.
The environmental sewerage plan is one of the municipal sanitation policy instruments that will define the management functions of the public sewerage services and guarantee essential public health services, the public’s rights and responsibilities, social control and information systems, among other aspects. This plan includes four master plans: water, sewerage networks, urban drainage and solid urban waste and urban cleaning.
The sewerage plan has a design period of 10 months. The representative of Aqualogy, Hernani Theies, explained that ‘this plan is the first of this kind prepared by Aqualogy in Brazil’ and that the company wants to ‘make this work a model of sanitation.’
