31 August 2016 Blue-green infrastructure, paradigm shift for biodiversity conservation

The administrations have the challenge of promoting economic growth and conserving nature, although a priori they appear to be conflicting goals. We are already capable of assessing and quantifying with data the economic impact that the loss of ecosystem services would represent for our quality of life and welfare, that is to say the benefits that people obtain from ecosystems and which are mainly divided into four categories: supply; regulation; support and cultural. Consequently, biodiversity conservation is becoming a priority aspect on the European agenda.
